Trevor Thomas is a dairy farmer fromLongwarry.  A third generation dairy farmer, Trevor milks 200 cows on his 150 ha property.  Trevor has been adapting his practices to help manage the changing conditions. “The bottom line is if you don’t get the rain, you don’t get the grass”. As a result Trevor has developed a range of strategies in pasture and crop management to help manage climate variability.

Zita Ritchie is a Dairy Extension Officer, specialising in climate risk management at the DPI based in Warrnambool. In this role she engages with dairy farmers, agricultural service providers and regional communities on the topic of climate change, climate variability and emissions to assist Victorian agriculture meet the climate and emissions challenge. Zita is also the editor of Milking the Weather, a seasonal climate newsletter delivering the latest seasonal update and climate outlooks for dairy regions in Victoria.
