Energy Use in the dairy - an in depth look

YDDP South Gippsland invites you to
Reducing energy use (& costs) in the dairy
Thursday October 20th 2011, 11 am – 1 pm
On farm at Peter & Kerry Collins’ property, 1080 Promontory Rd Fish Creek
(lunch provided)

As energy costs rise it is useful to check over the dairy shed and understand where the costs lie and how energy and money can be saved.  This event will look at one shed in detail and consider options for reducing costs in this shed as well as others.

Peter & Kerry Collins are dairy farmers at Fish Creek; they milk 240 cows in an 8 year old swing over herringbone shed.  They are keen to make savings in the shed and around the farm where possible. PTO For map.

Gabriel Hakim has worked in the dairy industry for 20 years in training and technical roles. Gabriel worked for DeLaval Australia and for 8 years owned and managed a milking machine dealership. He is a partner in AgVet Projects at Warragul and regularly conducts energy audits in cow sheds.

Darold Klindworth works at DPI Ellinbank.  You may know Darold from his work with the CowTime program.  Darold has an extensive knowledge of cow shed design and energy use in the dairy.
