Interest in energy at Yarram

Despite heavy rain, around 40 people attended a day at Yarram to look into energy use in the cow shed.  Speakers covered topics such as variable speed drive vacuum pumps, planning for solar, knowing your energy bills, tarrifs, plate cooler efficiency and more.  A display of LED lighting options was on offer over lunch.

Above: DPI's Darold Klindworth spoke about alternative energy sources particularly in the areas of hot water heating and milk cooling

  1. The best Varivac system in my experience is where the original Varivac system was produced by Steve Corkill in NZ. Farms should also be looking at variable speed milk pumps too....all reduce electricity bills.
