Dairy Methane Research

DPI Dairy Nutrition Scientist Dr Peter Moate, says a number of feed supplements including cotton seed and brewers grain can be fed to cattle.

"An average dairy cow produces 500 to 600 grams of methane a day. If we feed a typical amount of supplement, about three kilograms in the summer, we could reduce methane emissions by about 12 per cent.

This story was recently covered on ABC's Landline and on ABC Radio.
