Methane capture from effluent

There are always a lot of enquiries about capturing methane from dairy effluent ponds.  Unlike European systems, most Australian farms graze dairy cattle on pastures all year.  Therefore manure is not concentrated in one zone.
A comprehensive report from RIRDC's Methane to Markets program highlights where we are at in Australia.  The pig industry which houses animals and can therefore collect & digest waste more easily are leaders in Australia.
A project at DemoDairy in Western Victoria has explored covering the effluent pond and burning or flaring methane captured.
